Engineering properties of sandstone heated to a range of high temperatures

This study is an investigation of the effect high temperatures on engineering properties sandstone. The rock was first subjected to a range such as 25 °C, 200 400 600 °C and 800 series porosity, unconfined compression, X-ray diffraction scanning electron microscope tests were then performed heated specimens. In addition, sandstone specimens also different numbers (i.e. 1, 2, 4, 6 10) thermal cycles better understand temperature variations behaviour. It observed that in 200–400 had some influence properties; is, porosity slightly decreased while strength increased. However, for T ? there significant increase correlated with decrease strength. changes attributed mineralogy microstructure occurred at > where major minerals underwent process phase transformation cracking. Regardless temperature, almost all failed tension during compression. seen progressive corresponding elastic modulus rock.
